Sometimes, you’re left wondering if a Super Soaker’d do more damage. You rarely find ammo for them, but that’s the least of their problems. With numerous material collectibles and repair opportunities, you’re all set to develop your personalized arsenal. Upgrades can improve durability, force, or damage–often at the expense of contrasting factors–while you can add elemental abilities and other special powers as the game progresses, or you find or buy blueprints. Each one falls into a different category: maiming items dismember, bulldozer weapons send zombies flying, and headhunter tools, er, hunt heads. Melee weapons have a predictable but meaningful weight to them. Dambuster Studios / PLAIONįrom the moment you start out with makeshift lumps of timber and steel rebar, Dead Island 2’s visceral combat immediately feels satisfying. Hordes are a regular occurrence, but they offer a decent challenge. It dependably lets you know how and where your enemies are damaged–right down to flapping jawbones–which is crucial when you’re flailing around too quickly to process their life bars. Rough and tumbleĪt least the visuals are entirely dependable in combat, where it matters most. You’d’ve forgiven Dambuster for not including them it’s just such an odd design decision. Worst of all are the mirrors, which are effectively windows that peer into boxes containing linear imprints of the rooms they’re meant to reflect. Distant enemies can drop to single-figure framerates. Worse are in-game interactions, where lip-syncing is next to non-existent and people’s tongues creepily flap up and down as they speak (looking at you, Sam B). Cutscenes are solid enough, but audio regularly falls out of sync with visuals, even for just one character. It’s not going to blow you away, but when it comes to the action, specifically its comically violent gore, it feels brutal in all the right ways, and maintains an impressively smooth framerate even when you’re in the middle of a horde, without resorting to maddening levels of motion blur.Īdmittedly, its capabilities are often undercut by a few dodgy visual aspects that shatter the illusion of AAA blockbuster. Dambuster Studios / PLAIONĭead Island 2 looks good. It's not the most attractive game you'll play, but 'Dead Island 2' sure has its moments.

Instead of purchasing pre-constructed weapons from a store using credits, you now find spare resources after killing enemies and in safe rooms. The Weapon Bench and the parts you find scattered throughout DS3 are your best friends in crafting the ultimate weapon to dismantle the Necromorphs. Killing and dismembering necromorphs has never been more fun and with the additions of the Weapon Bench (pictured below), which expertly demonstrates Isaac’s engineering skills and how apt he is at crafting the ultimate badass gear. Instead, DS3 aims to be more action-oriented and in that it succeeds in spades. It’s true, the game is nowhere near as scary as the first two entries and Isaac really doesn’t hallucinate any crazy shit anymore but then that would render the finale of Dead Space 2 pointless and create a completely non cohesive story. But after two aggressively creepy entries in the series and with the main protagonist essentially batshit crazy until the end of the second game, how do you follow something as intense and creepy as that? Many people have complained Dead Space 3 was nowhere near as good as the first two entries, was largely forgettable or even went to far as say as the game just downright lacked any innovation in the series. Like many games in a trilogy of series, Dead Space 3 should not stray from the tried and true formula of its predecessors, but instead try to add new gameplay elements, graphical enhancements while still attempting to scare the hell out of you. However the former is the minority here, as the game totally washed away the sour after taste that was A:CM. There were many new elements to the franchise I enjoyed, and a few I didn’t. Dead Space 3, while taking a different path then it’s predecessors, is still quite an enjoyable experience on the whole. Ellie Langford and Isaac Clarke are both returning to the series, but the rest of the cast is new to stopping the threat of the Marker’s influenceĪfter the disappointment of Aliens: Colonial Marines, I was desperately looking forward to a sci-fi game that was actually FUN with characters I was emotionally invested in. The Game Sells a Currency I tend to prefer more action-orientated music than relaxing music, but it works for this game. I like the sounds enough in this game to feel like I am missing something when the game is muted. I wish more games had more active matching animations like this game. The game area is somewhat exciting with its explosive powerups and interesting animations. Like How the Match Pieces and Animations Look I like the colorful graphics of this game. The game area looks great, and I like how the match three pieces and other puzzle elements look. I am still not a fan of the 3D animations, but they look nice enough in this game. Reading through these recent reviews, I absolutely feel the need to comment and share my experience playing dragon city with my now 14 year old son since Dec 2019.Straight up truth. When the buff WAS present in the tab (and using the same exact units, numbers, and warlords) I would only lose 50-55 giants. At the times the city buff was not present in my “buffs” tab, I would lose approximately 70-75 giants. Another example is when I would attack lv7 Dwarf armies. Others (when the buff is present) will deal over 500k for attacking 5 times. I noticed that sometimes I would deal 480k damage to Empire foes when I first login and attack 5 times. This equates to 20k damage for me when I attack with a full bar. Having not teleported for at least 24 hours, when logging in to the Middle Empire, Talabheim’s city buff should give 7.5% vanquish damage bonus. Tile hitting can work to starve a bigger alliance of resources (and they heavily rely on lots of resources for growth) so once you zero them they can't rebuild. If I couldn't tile hit I wouldn't play this game because it is the best way for f2p players to level the playing field, taking that away would discourage attacking and it would be a game of mainly baiting people to hit you. Doing this minimizes how much you will be tile hit. Gather at least a few screen-lengths away. Don't gather on a tile close to someone else, only send out as many troops as you can retrain within a day, and don't gather within site of your fortress. You have to calculate the risks of gathering on a tile if you think you will be hit. In the first part of the trilogy there was a struggle between free will and fate in terms of a hero's destiny. From the very first chapter (Boromir's departure) through the final chapter (regarding Sam's choices), fate is generally on the side of good and it seems that good will inevitably win out over evil. In characters like Gollum/Sméagol, Saruman, and Grishnákh, we see that the forces of evil shoot themselves in the foot because so many of these individuals desire the Ring for themselves and they would happily rebel against their leader. For their part, the members of the Fellowship (Aragorn and Frodo, most notably) are honorable in their concealing of Boromir's crime. Most of the knowledge of the quest comes from the legends and songs characters are at an advantage if they know the prophecies. They do not know precisely where the Ring is, and they know too little about the forces of good to realize that Gandalf and his associates may seek to destroy the Ring rather than use it for their own gain. We also find that Saruman and Sauron may be defeated by their lack of knowledge. When Gandalf returns as Gandalf the White, he is even more powerful than he was before and most of this power comes from his increased knowledge and wisdom. Knowledge remains just as important in The Two Towers as in the first part of the trilogy. |
